Every Beauty Product I Finished This Month, August 2019

It’s no secret that beauty editors like myself receive a lot of product to consider for editorial coverage. My drawers, desks, closets, and entire homes are completely overflowing with product — so much so that I don’t even have any space to put it away. With so many products at my fingertips, I constantly balance wanting to try out every new toy with sticking to the things that I’m currently obsessing over. So it begs the question, what products do I actually finish? Here are my August 2019 beauty empties.

Every month, I’m going to round up every single beauty product I finished in the previous 30 days. Whether it’s makeup, haircare, skincare, fragrance, or nail polish, it’s difficult to actually go through every single bit of a product, especially when I’m always trying new things. So, it says a lot about the product — and is arguably pretty impressive — when I’m able to go through it in its entirety.

If you’re curious about what products I love enough to actually finish, check back with me on the last Friday of every month for my empties roundup. And while you’re at it, I’d love to hear what you finished this month, too. Sound off in the comments below.

Here are all of my August 2019 beauty empties.

Peach & Lily Wild Dew

Treatment Essence

This essence is unlike anything else I’ve ever put on my face. It makes me feel completely hydrated with just one layer of application, but the freaky part is that it really just looks like water coming out of the bottle. It’s gentle so it doesn’t flare up my eczema, and it has a light refreshing scent that’s comforting during both my day and nighttime skincare routines. It not only preps my skin for the next steps of my routine, but it also makes a huge difference in my skin on its own; I notice a significant difference in the softness and evenness of my skin whenever I run out of it. Needless to say, this has already been reordered and it will be back in my routine ASAP.

Tatcha The Dewy Skin Cream

Honestly, anything that Mario Dedivanovic endorses and/or uses on KKW herself, I’m totally in. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that this moisturizer from Tatcha has quickly become one of my favorites of all time — and that’s coming from a girl who is seriously picky about moisturizers. This recent addition to the Tatcha family is perfect for day and nighttime use, though I love using it as a priming layer to prep for makeup. It’s heavy enough to keep my skin moisturized throughout the day, but light enough where I don’t feel it gunking up on my face. It leaves my skin with the freshest, dewiest glow that I rock on the days when I don’t want to wear makeup, and the tiniest bit of product goes a really long way. The investment is totally worth it, I promise.

Tatcha Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF35 PA+++

I know that everyone is probably sick of hearing me rave about Tatcha products, but they really are that good, okay?! I used to be a sunscreen nonbeliever because I grew up in Florida and never burned, so I didn’t think that I needed to wear it on a daily basis. Of course, that was extremely naive of me, and I’ve since added sunscreen to my daily skincare routine. This one from Tatcha is one of the best. It doesn’t have that icky sunscreen smell that makes me gag, and it doesn’t leave my face with a white cast after I put makeup on. I also love that it feels more like a moisturizer, so I just think of it as an additional layer of skincare at the beginning of my day.

Jergens Natural Glow Revitalizing Lotion

As I mentioned, I grew up in Florida and was used to seeing my skin tone in the “tan” section of foundations. After living in the Northeast for five years, my skin totally paled out and I found myself missing my bronzier days. I’ve never liked the idea of spray tanning, and I’ve always had disasters with at-home self-tanners, so this lotion seemed like a great option for me. You apply it the same way you would any other body lotion after a shower, and it gradually builds up your color over time without the mess or stains of self-tanners. In my opinion, it’s totally foolproof, and I definitely saw a difference in how glowy and tan my skin looked after a couple weeks of using it. And for the price point, I will definitely be reinvesting to keep my summer skin going as long as I possibly can.

Summer Fridays R+R Mask

Though I’m a fan of every Summer Fridays mask (I got my hands on the Jet Lag Mask as soon as it launched) this one has quickly become my favorite. I mainly use it in the shower in the morning to get any remaining nighttime skincare gunk off my face, and to give my skin a little hydrating boost to start off the day. The rose powder is really gentle, which is an absolute must for me because my skin is so sensitive, and I really love the smell because it helps wake me up a little when I’m feeling a little sleepy in the shower. The oils are non-comedogenic, too, which means that anyone can use it, even if they’re acne-prone. (I’m not, but I get that question about this product a lot, so I figured it was worth mentioning.)

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser

I have a few different face washes that I cycle through depending on how sensitive my skin is feeling and how much product I have to wash off my face. This one has been a regular in my medicine cabinet for years, and I 100% intend on restocking it again. It really is the perfect go-to cleanser for me. It is super gentle on my sensitive skin, it actually leaves my skin clean, and I only need a little product to cover my whole face. I use this in the shower in the morning, on my lazy nights when I don’t want to use a messy or complicated face wash, or any other time when I need a simple, easy cleanser. It’s also perfect for traveling because I know that my skin will always be compatible with it, no matter what environment I’m in.

Hi friends!

Do you keep track of your beauty product empties? I actually have a note in my phone where I jot down each product that I finish after I recycle the packaging so I can keep track of things that I’m actually loving enough to finish. This practice has told me so much about my spending habits, what brands work really well on my skin, and things that I need to keep stocked at home. What products did you finish in August? Let me know in the comments below.

With love,
